History
History is a very popular subject in the Senior School and is currently thriving. In Years 7, 8 and 9 we follow the National Curriculum for the most part with a particular focus on the History of Britain between 1066 and 1900 and World History in the 20th Century. Lessons are lively and interactive and we encourage debate along with higher level thinking.
Many students opt to study the subject at GCSE where the focus is on Modern World History and the Shaping of Britain (1000 to the present day). Topics include Russia 1894-1945 (Tsardom and Communism), Germany 1890-1945 and Conflict and Tension 1918-1939, whilst there is also a depth study of the British Reformation (1660-1685). Our GCSE results are excellent and the subject remains popular at A Level.
