Ann Richards (Jackson)
–
Former Staff Member
Ann worked at the School from 1965
until 1983. Ann taught English for many
years and was Deputy Head of School.
Ann lived in Oundle and Polebrook and
the funeral took place at Polebrook
Church on Friday 5th June 2015.
Ann Jackson taught me English at both
O and A Level in the mid ‘70s and was
a brilliant and inspirational teacher,
adored and admired by her pupils. She
brought Shakespeare to life with her wit
and wisdom as only she knew how. The
photo of her riding a camel, taken on a
school trip to Egypt (kindly provided by
Mary Otter, nee Edmunds) shows her
fun loving character. Many former
pupils will remember her not only as a
dedicated teacher but as a warm and caring person. Her daughter, Elizabeth Jackson,
affectionately known as Lila, also attended the school in the ‘70s and is currently living
in New York. We have sadly lost one of the greats of Westwood House and I feel
privileged to have been taught by her.
