Chairman’s Letter
Dear Westwoodians,
a successful day raising £97 for the School
charity. We ran three games – a Lucky Dip,
Find the Treasure and Guess the Name of
the Teddy. I was asked to present the teddy to
the winner, who happened to be Hannah Crier,
the Head of School! It was lovely to see the
enthusiasm of the students and how everyone
takes a full and active part in the day.
I decided to step down from the position of
Chairman after eight years, as I felt the time
was right. I am pleased to say that Vicky Axe
is now your new Chairman and I wish her the
very best and hope that she enjoys the role as
much as I did.
As usual, the Reunion was the highlight of
the year. This year we continued with the
afternoon tea, Pimms and rounders match. It
proved to be highly successful with over
100 people attending. The rounders match
against the School was great fun, a shame we
did not win. The afternoon tea and Pimms
were wonderful and everyone had a chance to
chat and exchange memories. The tours of the
School were again very popular; there is
always something new to see, but the heart of
the School remains the same.
This year to try and raise the profile of
the Westwoodians within the School, the
Committee ran a stall on Appeals Day. We had

Another innovation this year was to sponsor
the Upper Sixth Leavers Book. We hope that
our page in the book will be a permanent
reminder to keep in touch and join us at our
reunions. I presented the books to the Upper
Sixth at their Leavers Service at the end of
term. It was a lovely evening full of happiness
and tears, and I wish our new Westwoodians a
very happy future in their chosen path.
I would like to thank all the members of the
Committee past and present for all their support
and hard work throughout my Chairmanship.
Thank you to Ivana who puts in a great deal
of work behind the scenes to make the
Association run as smoothly as it does.
I hope that you enjoy reading the Newsletter
and I look forward to seeing you at our next
Reunion.
Margaret Hope
